Yvonne Daetz Obituary

Yvonne B. Daetz (nee Bohm), born October 24, 1930, in Two Rivers, and reunited in heaven with her husband and best friend, Earl. This heavenly reunion also includes daughter Brenda Daetz-Webster and beloved sister Joyce Stoer. Vonnie passed along her sense of adventure and curiosity to her children and grandson and was a true example of resilience and kindness. Ever stoic and strong, she never complained even when life handed her significant challenges.

Vonnie is survived by her son Bri of Manitowoc. Survivors also include grandson, Ryan (Sara) Webster, son-in-law, Joe (Julie) Webster, nephews, Kurt (Rose) Stoer, Kevin (Wade Gease) Stoer, Kris (Lisa) Stoer, and niece Lora (Jerry) Valenta.

Vonnie grew up in Two Rivers eastside and graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She earned her nursing degree from Bellin in 1951. Vonnie met the love of her life, double dating through high school dances. Vonnie dated Earl’s best friend and Earl dated her best friend. They met again in 1951 and that was that. They were married in 1952 and were inseparable until he passed away on Easter 2007.

Throughout her married life, Vonnie supported Earl as he built a successful insurance agency. Vonnie’s career was the Two Rivers Hospital. Her proudest achievement was in the planning and building of the Hamilton Home. From this very satisfying career came many lifelong friends that often got together for lunch.

Camping was a passion of Vonnie’s until the family settled into a beautiful setting on the Bay in Door County. There she fished with Earl, canoed with her children, and taught them how to waterski. After twenty-five years in Door County, it was off to the lake house at Crivitz, to fish and golf. Always along with her activities were her beloved dogs: Beagles, German Shorthaired Pointers, German Shepherds, Doberman Pinschers and Cairn Terriers.

Vonnie never encountered a craft she didn’t like. One week she sewed two outfits and a formal dress for a high school dance. Other times, she appeared on weekends with her magical Singer to sew and hang window treatments for her children’s apartments, condos, and homes. Her other talents included knitting afghans, crocheting, and making braided rugs. Her cooking and baking skills were amazing. For the cheesecake recipe, see Pastor Arndt and for the carrot cake recipe see Kay Knutson. In closing, Vonnie was a true lady, a caring RN, fan of everything dog, loving mother and grandmother and a loving and devoted wife.

The family extends a heartful thank you to Andrea Koehler and Craig Millner who were always there. Not to be forgotten are her caregivers: Staphanie, Tamra, Chrissy, and “Lois”.

A private funeral service will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, WI. Pastor David Ardnt will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to St. Johns Church or the Lakeshore Humane Society. The Lakeshore Family Funeral Homes, Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com
