Ken was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Batavia for over 40 years, where he was confirmed, served as an Elder, and Ushered. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cascade along with his entire family.

As his children were growing up he was a Cub Master for the Cascade Boy Scout Troop, a Baseball Coach for the Cascade Rec., and a sideline ump for his boy’s 6-8th grade tag football teams.

He served his community as Firefighter/Fire Inspector for the Cascade Fire Department and was the President of the Cascade/Waldo Jaycee’s.

Ken enjoyed being involved with his children with Boy Scouts, Baseball, and selling Girl Scout Cookies with his daughters. He was the proudest Dad when he watched their 5 children walk across the stage to receive their diploma and start their careers. Caregiver, Cheesemaker, Butcher, Florist and Diesel mechanic.

In later years he would go to his children’s homes to surprise them and cut their lawns, he always used a push mower.

Ken had many interests, which he enjoyed: Drove stockcar at Plymouth Dirt Track, his love for his muscle cars, GTO & Firebird, fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, trapshooting, dart ball league at Immanuel Lutheran in the Town of Scott, cutting and trimming wood, hobby farming with his John Deere Tractors 3010/4010, mushroom/asparagus picking on the side of the road, going to Road America Racetrack, picking nightcrawlers, pitching horseshoes with his Dad, playing cribbage, Sheepshead, and card games of all kinds, the yearly 4th of July firework competition with the neighbors, the Peronne’s, attending Packer games at Milwaukee County Stadium & Lambeau Field, and attending Brewer games.

His grandkids were his pride and joy! He enjoyed going to all their concerts, sporting events, and anything they were involved in.

His greatest joy was going to his cottage at Wind Pudding Lake with his family and many friends. Making great memories, fishing, swimming, mini golfing, golfing, having campfires, and telling stories with a cold beer in his hand! The week in August with just the grandkids was always fun and adventurous!

Ken with his family opened their home to 5 Foreign exchange students and their families, Karen (Germany), Tom (East Germany), Seraina (Switzerland), Katarina (Germany), Meike (Germany). Along with many relatives and friends when they needed a home.

Ken has passed on his willingness to help anyone in need to his family. Whatever time of day, whatever they needed, and never asked for anything in return.

Ken loved to travel with family. He took them all on many trips and made lots of special memories. In Retirement, he continued to travel all over the United States with his close friends Levi & Karel Melius.

Ken’s last wishes have been carried out by his family and would like to leave this final message: “Hope I haven’t offended anyone too much with my quirky sense of humor. I hope I put smiles on your faces, and my love to talk to strangers, I hope I passed on to my family. Enjoy Life!”

Ken’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to, Pastor Bidinger, lifelong friends: Levi & Karel Melius and George & Bonnie Baumann for all their visits and help. The staff at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice, especially Kim M., Angela, Lynn, Jennifer, Kim T., and Valerie for all their compassion and care for Ken as he progressed with Alzheimer’s.

God blessed him richly in his earthly life! God bless his memory! We will miss him. “Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden light” I know that my Redeemer lives!

Ken will be remembered by his family by the song “Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill.
