Thomas Thompson Obituary

Thomas C. Thompson, a man who put faith and family first in his life passed away at his home on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the age of 80 with his loving family beside him.

Thomas was born on February 5, 1943, in Milwaukee a son to the late Robert and Verna (Weidman) Thompson.  As a young man his mother passed away and his father married W. Gene  Narron whom he loved as his own mother.  He attended Custer High School in Milwaukee and graduated from Mukwonago High School.  Following high school, he attained a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Northwestern University in Minneapolis and later attained his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  On July 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Gail Hansen his wife of over 57 years, in Minneapolis.  He was a police officer in Milwaukee for five years prior to his career as a utilities and power plant engineer in Milwaukee. 

Thomas was a lover of history and an avid traveler.  Together with his wife they traveled all 50 states and many places in the world including Ireland, Tahiti, and Ecuador.  He also made many mission trips to various places.  He was a loving and generous person who enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history and his many travels with family and friends.  He was very passionate about his love of God and faith in Jesus Christ, sharing this passion on his mission trips.  He enjoyed motorcycles, working on cars, loved animals and built his own dream home.

Thomas was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Plymouth.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Gail; his five daughters, Shari Lynn (Rick) Miley of Plymouth, Brigitte (Bud) Bennington of Hopewell, IL, Spring (Kyle) Breitzman of Pewaukee, Heather (Michael) Pipkin of Milwaukee and Tiffany (Jon) Thompson Immel of Chillicothe, IL; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Willie, Connor, Brittany, Amber, Kelsey and Lily; three great granddaughters, Aveline, Varah and Hazel; a sister, Jyll (Dan) Knautz;  two brothers, Steve (Jane) Thompson and Peter (Janet) Thompson and an aunt, Lois Thompson.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Craig and an uncle Jack Thompson.

A funeral service for Thomas will be held 11 AM, Friday, March 31 at Faith Baptist Church in Plymouth with Rev. Andrew Whittenburg and Rev. David Kimmel officiating.  Burial will be in the Greenbush Cemetery.  Family and friends may visit with the family at the church, 1223 Krummrey St., Plymouth on Thursday, March 30 from 4 pm until 7 pm and on Friday from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am.

Thomas’s  family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic for the care and support given to them and would also like to thank the Faith Baptist church family for all the support, compassion, phone calls and visits throughout Thomas’s illness.
