Thomas Mole Obituary

Thomas E. Mole, 80, passed away quietly on Sunday evening, November 20, 2022 at Cedar Grove Gardens, Wisconsin after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Tom was born on December 12, 1941 in Milwaukee to the late George and Bernice (Gerds) Mole. He attended Rufus King High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. He continued his education at UW-Whitewater, and transferred to Florida State University, where he graduated at the top of his class with a degree in business. Tom also loved to dance, and one magical night at Claude’s in Milwaukee, he met the love of his life.  On August 29, 1964 he was united in marriage to Karen Jorgensen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Following college graduation, Tom went to work for the Ford Motor Company, and then moved to Procter and Gamble’s Sales Division. His career and numerous promotions provided opportunities to live in Michigan, New York, Massachusetts, and the mountains of Colorado. As a result, each of his four children were born in separate states. Tom was a lifelong avid sports fan, and greatly enjoyed coaching and cheering at his children's sporting events. Tom also enjoyed teaching his kids to swim, play basketball, golf, and bowl, and even participated in a bowling league with his late son and daughter-in-law. When MS health challenges began to impact his abilities, his love of sports transitioned back to the water, where, on Random Lake, he had grown up waterskiing. Here, he discovered jet skiing, and took great joy in racing people on the Lake. He also enjoyed exploring rivers and oceans while living in Ft. Myers, Florida, and enjoyed sharing stories of adventures, and wildlife sightings. He gave back to the community by volunteering as a member of Random Lake’s Village Board, at the Edison Ford Estate in Ft. Myers, and at hospitals in Ft. Myers and Milwaukee.

Tom was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Random Lake and the Random Lake Lions Club.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen; his three children, Deborah Mole of Anchorage, Alaska, Tom (Ruth) Mole of Random Lake, and Christie Mole of Madison; his grandchildren, Abigail Mole-Jorgensen of Sun Prairie, Justice and Jubilee Mole-Brown of Anchorage and Violet Mole of Random Lake; his great grandson Carson Jackson of Sun Prairie; his sisters, Marilyn Thornell  and Cheryl (Doug) Ziemann, both of Random Lake. Nieces, nephews and other family members further survive.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Steven Erik Mole and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Mole.

A Memorial Service for Tom Mole will be held Tuesday, December 6, 5pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Random Lake with Pastor Dave Patterson officiating. Visitation begins at 4pm. A reception at Tom's son's restaurant - Random Lake Pizzeria - will follow the service.

Tom’s family would like to express their deep appreciation to those who cared for him, including the staff of Songbird Pond, Sheboygan Progressive, Sheboygan Health Services and Cedar Grove Gardens. Their tender loving care will be remembered. A special thank you to Dan Doegnitz of Random Lake for his enduring friendship.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up in honor of Tom. Contributions can be made to www.account.venmo.com/u/Christie-Mole and the family will select organizations close to Tom’s heart.
