Sister Delia Gaber, age 78, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died September 11, 2021 at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
The former Janice Gaber was born June 3, 1943 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Sylvester and Eleanore (Pecore) Gaber. She entered the convent in 1961 and professed her vows in 1963. Sister Delia ministered as a homemaker at Marist Seminary, Washington, D.C.; Xavier, Appleton; Sacred Heart Seminary, Oneida; St. Paul, Kaukauna; Holy Family, Manitowoc; St. Philip, Green Bay; Silver Lake (Holy Family) College, Manitowoc; Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay all in Wisconsin. While at San Damiano, Slinger, Wisconsin, Sister Delia was involved in an outreach program in the area. She also provided various Community services while living at Holy Family Hospital, St. Francis Convent and Holy Family Convent, all in Manitowoc. Beginning in 2015 Sister Delia had been engaged in the Community’s Prayer Apostolate. Since August 2021 she had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; brothers and sisters-in-law: Gene (Bernice) Gaber, Dale (Elaine) Gaber, Roger (Linda) Gaber, Ronald (Elsie) Gaber and (Rose) Gaber, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sister Delia was preceded in death by her parents: Sylvester and Eleanore (Pecore) Gaber; and her brother: Wally Gaber.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Sister Delia will be laid to rest at the Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel. The visitation will continue Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Unvaccinated visitors are asked to please wear a mask in accord with the CDC guidelines.
