Roger C. Nowakowski, 94, of Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Roger was born on October 25, 1926 in Manitowoc to Rudolph and Josephine (Henry) Nowakowski. He was a 1944 graduate of Lincoln High School in Manitowoc. Roger served his country in the Army, serving stateside during WWII. On September 16, 1950 he married the former LaVerne Vogel at St.Paul's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on August 3, 2020. Roger owned and operated Rod's Auto Service, for 24 years and also worked for 10 years for the city of Manitowoc as a Bridge Tender.
Roger was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Eagle's Club and Seniors Club and an active member of the Amvets Post 99. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
Roger is survived by his two daughters: Lynn Nowakowski of Las Vegas, NV and Lori (Randy) Decker of Auburn, AL; three grandchildren: Bruce (significant other Kristin Luger) Kennedy, Matthew (Adel) Decker and Alexander (Kearstin) Decker; one great-grandchild: Kellen Decker. He is furthered survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne; parents; two brothers: Rodney (Hazel) Nowakowski; Ragnar (Mary) Nowakowski; and two sisters: Corola (Bob) Kowalski and Corrine (Jim) Kubalik.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Marshall Site, 1114 S. 21st St., Manitowoc. Rev. Ben Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be at Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 10:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
