Robert D. "Bob" George

Robert D. “Bob” George, age 88, of Manitowoc, passed away late Sunday morning, November 28, 2021 at River’s Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc.

Bob was born on August 3, 1933 in Racine, son of the late Donald Dunsmore and Helen Ernestine (Podewels) George. Bob served in the United States Army from July 8, 1954 until his Honorable Discharge on June 7, 1956 reaching the rank of SP3. On July 14, 1956 Bob married the former Ethel A. Bruckschen at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2019. Bob began his teaching career in 1953 teaching in Two Creeks. He was the Principal at Stangel Elementary School in 1974 and Jefferson Elementary School in 1986, retiring from Manitowoc Public School District in 1990. In his retirement years, he and Ethel traveled extensively throughout the United States. He was a member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church.

Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law: David (Mary) George, Arbor Vitae, Daryl (Mary) George, Clintonville; and six grandchildren: Allison (Ronnie) Praet, Christopher (Amy) George, Bryan (Lauren) George, Nicholas George, Ehrick (Amanda) George, and Katelynn (Ross) Grant; three great-grandchildren: Aubrey George, Layla Grant, Bailey George; one brother-in-law: Mert Rambadt, Surprise, AZ, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Helen George; his wife: Ethel A. George; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Erwin and Leona Bruckschen; one sister-in-law: Carol Rambadt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, 6524 Hwy C, Manitowoc. The Rev. Kyle Sorensen will officiate with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served in the church’s fellowship hall. If you plan to attend, please wear a mask regardless of vaccination status.
