Dick was born August 17, 1928 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, son of the late Clarence and Regina Thuss. He attended Marshfield schools and joined the United States Air Force in 1947. Dick was stationed in Okinawa, Colorado, and Texas and received his honorable discharge in February 1950 from Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dick and his parents moved to Manitowoc and he worked at various companies here, retiring from Burger Boat in 1990 as a Sheetmetal Contractor. He then went on to work part-time at Globe Laundry as a delivery driver for Craig for four years, a job he loved very much.
Dick loved camping at various campgrounds with his three children before settling as a permanent camper at Little Silver Lake in Wild Rose, Wisconsin for 32 years. He enjoyed playing softball with the many friends he met there over the years with his Pink Elephant Team. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother Jerry, friends, and his two sons and son-in-law. Dick played a lot of softball for many years for numerous bars in Manitowoc, especially Kenny’s Bar. He also attended the Kenny’s Tournaments every summer faithfully.

Dick loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much and always put them first. We could have never asked for a more loving father and grandfather than him.
He so enjoyed very much going to eat at four seasons and shopping at St. Vinnie’s with his great-grandson Chase. Dick also enjoyed so much his daily visits from his great-granddaughter Davina. He also liked going to D&K’s as well as Bud Willmans.
Dad will be missed by all, more than he will ever know.
Our family wishes to thank the entire staff of Heartland Hospice Care, especially Karen, Paula, Pat, Colleen, Shilo, Jane, and Dr. Gahl for being there for us during this difficult time.
