Merwyn F. Beyer, Jr., age 92 of Manitowoc passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.
Merwyn was born on June 21, 1930 in Fort William Ontario Canada son of the late Merwyn and Ethel (Hamm) Beyer, Sr. He attended schools in Manitowoc and graduated with the class of 1950 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Merwyn served in the Unites States Army Reserves retiring with a rank of Command Sergeant Major in 1971. On May 10, 1952 he married the former Ann Bredesen in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2020. Merwyn worked at Manitowoc Crane where he was employed as a Draftsman and Technical Writer for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed reading, gardening, camping and golf. Merwyn was a longtime mentor for Junior Achievement.
He is survived by his eight children: Sue (Steven) Hoepfner, Fond du Lac, Karen (John) Brickner, Birchwood, Kathryn (Pete) Lueloff, Rio, Patty (Dave) Kappelman, Francis Creek, Joanne (Gregg) Kadow, Manitowoc, Michael (Becky) Beyer, Barnwell, SC, Steve (Bev) Beyer, New Franken, Kay (Jim) Landt, San Simon, AZ; twenty-four grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Merwyn and Ethel Beyer Sr.; his wife: Ann Beyer; one sister: Dianne Thomas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew L. Sauer will officiate with a private family burial to take place at a later date. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
