Mary Jo Edler, age 76, of Sheboygan passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton.
The former Mary Jo Butsch was born on February 11, 1947 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late Joseph and Anne (Huibregtse) Butsch. She grew up in Sheboygan and was a 1966 graduate of Sheboygan North High School. Mary Jo worked originally for Norwest Bank, later becoming Wells Fargo Bank, E & K Hauling, Edler Brothers Trucking, and retiring from A & M Trees LLC. For many years, Mary Jo volunteered for the Sheboygan Meals on Wheels Program. She loved to attend musical theater, and enjoyed all Wisconsin sports, especially Wisconsin Badger football and basketball, Milwaukee Bucks basketball, Milwaukee Brewer baseball, and the Green Bay Packers football.
Mary Jo was a former member of Bethlehem Reformed Church, and a current member of Grace Bible Fellowship of Oostburg, where she served the congregation in various ways.
Mary Jo loved her family, especially her grandchildren and nieces. The great-grandchildren always referred to her as “Grandma JoJo”.
Mary Jo is survived by her son: Joey Edler, Plymouth; one daughter-in-law and her fiancé: Robin Edler and Dave Bitter, Howards Grove; two grandchildren: Benjamin (Amy) Edler, Manitowoc, and Bill (Melissa) Edler, Glenbeulah; six great-grandchildren: Brynn, Grace, and Beau Edler, Manitowoc, and Henry Edler, Alivia and Mason Briones, Glenbeulah; one sister and brother-in-law: Susan (Michael) Jerving, Sheboygan; two nieces: Amanda (Nigel) Hadley, Milwaukee and Jessica Jerving and Gregory Henderson, Temecula, CA; other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Anne Butsch; and one son: James Edler.
A funeral service to celebrate Mary Jo’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 7:00 pm, at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, 123 South Street Plymouth, with Pastor Wayne DeVrou officiating and a private family entombment to take place in the Chapel of Eternal Life, Greenlawn Memorial Park in Kohler. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary Jo’s name for Grace Bible Fellowship or Sheboygan Meals on Wheels.
