Joseph Resch Obituary

Joseph A. Resch, age 96, formerly of Whitelaw, died Sunday morning, December 4, 2022, at St. Mary’s Home of Felician Village in Manitowoc.

Joseph was born on October 9, 1926, in Aniwa, Wisconsin, son of the late Louis and Margaret (Wilhelm) Resch. On June 1, 1949, he married the former Bernice Havlichek at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. The couple had recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary. She preceded him in death on October 22, 2021. Together they farmed in Branch and raised five children on the family farm. Joseph also was a Vigortone dealer for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, making maple syrup and gardening. Joseph was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, it's Holy Name Society, and the Reedsville Knights of Columbus. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include five children: Carol (Allan) Lallensack, Manitowoc, Joseph C. (Susan) Resch, Whitelaw, Nancy Pekarske, Mosinee, Mary Kay (Michael) Maigatter, Appleton, Kevin (Susan) Resch, Whitelaw; eighteen grandchildren: Chad Lallensack, Eric Lallensack, Ryan (Sara) Lallensack, Jennifer (William) Neumann, Joseph V. (Shannon) Resch, Linda (Brian) Engelbrecht, Gregory (Molly) Resch, Andrew (Kari) Resch, Douglas Resch, and Thomas (Bernadette) Resch, Nathan (Emily) Pekarske, Michael Pekarske and Lorrin (Greg) Potts, Kristin (Brent) Bunker, Michael (Katie) Maigatter, Matthew (Alanna) Maigatter, Kyle (Adrienne) Resch, Michael Wenzel; 30 great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Gwidt, Pulaski, Mary Phipps, Reedsville; one sister-in-law: Germaine Stradal, Whitelaw; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Margaret Resch; one son-in-law: Larry Pekarske; one grand daughter-in-law: Hannah Resch; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry (Anna) Resch, Louis (Dorothy) Resch, Norman (Mary) Resch; one sister and three brothers-in-law: Dorothy (James) Preston, John Gwidt, Elmer Phipps; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Charles and Alvina Havlichek; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Gardy, William, and Melvin Havlichek; Laverne (George) Stueber, Joseph Stradal.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 9, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.
