John Sheahan Obituary

John E. Sheahan, age 91, a resident of the township of Cato, died Thursday morning, June 3, 2021 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on June 5, 1929 in Grimms, a son of the late James Luke and Margaret Elizabeth (Daley) Sheahan. He attended St. Patrick’s School in Maple Grove and graduated with the class of 1948 from Valders High School. John enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 during the Korean War and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1955. On June 13, 1953 he married the former Jeanette M. Ebert at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. John worked for the Manitowoc County Highway Department as an Equipment Operator and retired in 1991 after 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw, past president of the Holy Names Society, past president of Home & School, and served as a Lector. John was a member of the Gosz-Novak American Legion Post #199 of Reedsville.

Survivors include his wife: Jeanette Sheahan, Cato; four sons and three daughters-in-law: Terry (Eve) Sheahan, Oconomowoc, Ronald (Jean) Sheahan, Whitelaw, Roger (Kay) Sheahan, Howards Grove, Patrick Sheahan, Two Rivers; four daughters and three sons-in-law: Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan, Manitowoc, Linda (Mike) Rappel, Manitowoc, Cynthia Neshek, St. Louis Park, MN, Jennifer (Mark) Leneau, Manitowoc; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Joan Dietrich, Karen (Seb) Schuh; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Patti (Jim) Reindl, Dorothy Ebert, Betty Ebert, Diane Ebert, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Margaret Sheahan; one infant son: Timothy Scott Sheahan; one son-in-law: Michael Neshek; one grandson: Matt Neshek; brothers and sisters: Rita Sheahan, Raphael Sheahan, Patrick (Dorothy) Sheahan, Bernard (Cecilia) Sheahan, Mary Rose (Lyle) Spielman, James (Irene) Sheahan, Margaret “Anita” (Norman) Paulus, Donald (Joyce) Sheahan; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Andrew and Loretta Ebert Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lawrence Dietrich, Kenneth Ebert, Jerome Ebert, Andrew “Sonny” Ebert Jr., Marian (Fritz) Haelfrisch, Genrose (Donald) Bartels, Germaine (Charles) Biely, Loretta (Hank) Sheahan, Anna Marie (Ken) Kasianowicz, Clara Ebert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 110 West Menasha Avenue, Whitelaw. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Gosz-Novak American Legion Post #199 and the Reedsville AmVets Post #1032. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM. There will be a parish prayer service on Sunday at 6:30 PM led by Deacon Randy Meidl. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
