John Hutterer Obituary

John M. Hutterer, age 79, of rural Manitowoc, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 21, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.Johnny was born on June 30, 1941 in Manitowoc, son of the late John Q. and Anna M. (Seidl) Hutterer. He grew up in the town of Kossuth and attended St. Anne grade school in Francis Creek and graduated from Mishicot High School in 1959, the first class to graduate from the new/current high school. On October 12, 1963 he married the former Joan A. Katzka at St. Anne Catholic Church in Francis Creek. The couple lived in the town of Kossuth on the Hutterer farm where he grew up. In addition to farming, John worked for the Manitowoc County Highway Department as a grader operator and snow plow driver (Grader 149) for 37 years, retiring in 2002. He then worked part-time after retirement for Holschbach Excavating.John served on the Kossuth Town Board, six years as Town Supervisor and 34 years as Town Chairman, retiring in 2017. He was a life-long member of St. Anne Catholic Church and a member of the Francis Creek Sportsman's Club and spent many hours volunteering at the picnic. John enjoyed cutting wood, camping and especially "Camping at the Pit" on Memorial Day weekend. He also enjoyed working with his tractors, cutting lawn, fishing and helping with any activities involving his family, especially all the years making maple syrup in the "Sugar Shack".Survivors include his wife: Joan A. Hutterer; his six children: Susie (Dean) Kornely, Sandy (Steve) Menges, John S. (Mary) Hutterer Sr., Karen (Deacon Mike) Valenta, Carrie (Kurt) Brotski, Billy (Janice) Hutterer; 14 grandchildren: Cassie (Mike) Schmidt, Matthew (Amber) Kornely, Hannah Kornely and boyfriend, Jeremy Dvorak, Adam Kornely and girlfriend, Michelle Wilson, Luke Menges and fiancée, Elise Nickel, Peter Menges and fiancée, Chelsea Swanson, Anna Menges and boyfriend, Connor Smith, John S. Hutterer Jr., Kyle Hutterer and girlfriend, Samantha Jaeger, Olivia Valenta, Jacob Brotski and fiancée, Morgan Melichar, Talya Brotski and fiancé, Colton Wernecke, Tatum Hutterer and Marti Hutterer; 7 great-grandchildren: Kylie, Kyra and Kayden Schmidt, Norman, Oliver, Walter and Eleanor Kornely; his mother-in-law: June Katzka; one brother: Ken Hutterer; one sister: Janet Brockhoff; six brothers-in-law and six sisters-in-law: Robert Novak, Richard (Joyce) Katzka, Jean Hassemer, Cheryl (Ronald) Basken, Danny (Denise) Katzka, Dennis (Karen) Katzka, Kay (Todd) Kohlmeier, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his son: Stevie Hutterer; his parents: John Q. and Anna Hutterer; his father-in-law: Marty Katzka; one sister: Irene Novak; two brothers-in-law: Melvin Brockhoff, Ralph Hassemer; one sister-in-law: Joyce Hutterer.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 26, 2021 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Mass will be concelebrated by the Rev. Jeffrey J. Briones and Rev. John Becker with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Monday at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. A parish prayer service will be held on Sunday at the funeral home at 6:30 PM led by Deacon Mike Valenta. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in an effort to keep everyone safe, the family requests that everyone please wear a facemask and practice social distancing.
