Janice D. (Dhein) Maertz

Janice D. Maertz, born November 21, 1919 in Chilton, Wisconsin, daughter of the late John and Doris (Williams) Dhein passed away on Sunday June 6, 2021. Janice graduated from Chilton High School in 1937 and retired from Manitowoc’s Northern Wisconsin Produce in 1982 where she had been the receptionist and billing clerk for twenty-five years. She enjoyed her family’s years with friends at Cedar Lake where playing cards, swimming and nights around the fire were the norm. In her youth she was a member of a dance troupe that entertained throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

Janice married Carroll E. Maertz of Reedsville on March 6th, 1943 and he preceded her in death on July 9th, 1996.

Survivors include one son, Robert (Barbara) of Manitowoc; grandsons James (Elizabeth) Vernon, TX; Sean, Appleton, WI; Jason (Rachel) and Jonathan (Kelsey) Manitowoc, WI; three great grandchildren, and two nieces.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son Eric (Rick) father of Jason and Jonathan; a brother and his wife, Donald (Marie) Dhein; brother-in-law and his wife William (Monica) Maertz; her in-laws William and Emma Maertz, a nephew and several cousins.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lakeshore Humane Society or to Manitowoc’s First Lutheran Church.

Cremation has taken place and per Janice’s wishes there will be no services held.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with arrangements.
