Gary Duggan Obituary

Gary D. Duggan, age 70, of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly at home, in his sleep on Friday, August 27, 2021.

Gary was born May 30, 1951 in Manitowoc, son of the late Jerry and Marie (Falvey) Duggan. He grew up on the family farm near Cato. Gary graduated from St. Patrick Grade School in Maple Grove and from Reedsville High School with the class of 1969. Following high school, Gary served six years in the Wisconsin National Guard. Growing up on the farm, instilled a hard work ethic in Gary at a young age and a love for animals. He started his working career at Ed Zahorick’s Chicken Farm, where he told many stories of his work. Gary later worked at Ed Reineman’s & Sons. In his adult life, he started his career in the construction trades at Crafts Inc. in 1972, which led him to doing many projects for others and on his own properties. Eventually he became a CNA at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, where his kindness and compassion towards the residents is talked about to this day by his coworkers. While working in the nursing field, he never lost his love for the building trade, which he carried into his retirement as he continued to help his nephew, Jerry Duggan, on many projects.

Survivors include his son: Jeremy Duggan and special friend Megan Paulson, Madison; his siblings: Eugene Duggan and his special friend: Arlene Engen, Nashville, TN, Colleen (Bill) Korinek, Whitelaw, Kathleen Duggan, Denmark, Dennis Duggan and special friend Martha Finck, Manitowoc; nieces and nephews: Jill (Brad) Christensen, Kelsey (Ryan) McCulley, Kristy (Mike) Schiffer, Anne Duggan, Kelley (Will) Entrekin, Jerry Duggan and fiancée Rebecca Tomchek, Daniel Duggan, Nadine (Dustin) Miller, Natalie Duggan and special friend Gage Mitchell, Madeline Duggan and special friend Brandon Recore; the mother of his son: Liz Welch, Kellnersville. Also surviving are many cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jerry and Marie Duggan; his grandparents: Dan and Elizabeth (Sheahan) Duggan, Peter and Pearl (Brennan) Falvey; one sister-in-law: Kathy (Krummel) Duggan; and a very special great uncle: Bill Brennan.
