Eugene P. Kummer, age 95 of Manitowoc passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Eugene was born on July 13, 1927, in Manitowoc, son of the late Emil & Carrie (Staudinger) Kummer. He was a 1945 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. On June 24, 1950, Eugene was married to Carol M. “Peachie” Fanslau at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2008. Eugene worked for the Manitowoc Tinsel Factory and later became an inspector with the Manitowoc Company in the crane division, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed yard work and sheepshead. Eugene was very proud that he built his own home. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Survivors include his five daughters and sons-in-law: Christine Jean (Steve) Schroeger, AZ, Jacqueline Jean (Rory) Bahr, Madison, Marilyn Jean (Mike) Sieracki, Manitowoc, Julianne (Keith) Hartlaub, Manitowoc, Leslie Carol (Wayne) Wallander, Newton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one sister: Arlene Erdmann, Manitowoc; one brother: Dennis Kummer; and one sister-in-law: Evelyn Kummer, Manitowoc; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: Emil and Carrie Kummer; his wife: Carol “Peachie” Kummer; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Raymond (Marion) Kummer, Harold Kummer; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law: Richard Erdmann, Jane (Joe) Keenan.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi, Waldo site, 1121 N. 14th St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with cremation to follow and burial of his cremated remains at the Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. Relatives and friends may call at the Church on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am.
