Earl John Bruechert, 89, of Manitowoc passed away peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Earl was born on May 6, 1932 in Manitowoc Rapids, to the late John and Adeline (Schmitz) Bruechert, Jr. Earl attended school in Manitowoc. He served his country in the United States Army. On August 5, 1950, he married the love of his life, the former Ann Mae Bohacek. For 71 years, they walked side by side through all of life’s adventures. Through the years, Earl was a truck driver for Dawson Springer, Les Johnson Cartage, Schwerman Trucking and Royal Aluminum Trucking. He was a member of the AMVET’s and Eagles Club.
Earl was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, his family was his pride and joy. Earl enjoyed playing his polkacello, entertaining family and friends with his jokes, and drinking a good martini. For 20 years, he and Ann spent time in Florida, where they enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 71 years: Ann; children: Bonnie (Robin) Bowen of Manitowoc, Randy (Sandi) Bruechert of Manitowoc, Jeff (Susan) Bruechert of Mercersburg, PA, and Rick (Beth) Bruechert of Manitowoc; 11 grandchildren: Craig (Tina), Holly, Missy (Eric), Chad (fiancé Amber), Jody (Jacob), Katie, Wendy (significant other Blake), Kathrine (Waide), Amber, Caleb (fiancé Karina), and Kaine; 16 great-grandchildren: Lauren, Shae, Jake, Freddie, Alexis, Rachel, Brayden, Brantley, Braxton, Connor, Felicia, Macen, Rylie, Kannon, Charlotte and Preston; and sister-in-law: Elaine Bohacek. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Wendy Ann; grandson: Zachary Bruechert; sister: Ethel (John) Spooner; and brother-in-law: Bud Dryll.
A memorial service to celebrate Earl’s life will be held at 12pm on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Peace United Church of Christ, 3613 Waldo Blvd, with Deacon Al Boeldt officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 10am until the time of service at 12pm.
