Dorothy M. Gintner, age 89 of Manitowoc, formerly of rural Whitelaw, passed away Tuesday evening, September 26, 2023, at The Villas of Felician Village, Manitowoc.
Dorothy was born on December 2, 1933, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Naidl) Krizek Sr. She grew up in the town of Kossuth and attended Palm Grove School and graduated from Mishicot High School in 1952. On May 25, 1957, Dorothy married Richard A. Gintner at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reifs Mills. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1994. Dorothy farmed alongside her husband on their town of Kossuth farm on Post Road. Dorothy was a former member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and cleaned the church every Saturday. She was a current member of St. Francis of Assisi parish. Dorothy enjoyed baking, playing cards, especially Sheepshead, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her five children: Rick (Beth) Gintner, Bradenton, FL, Lori O’Connor and Jim Schnell, Manitowoc, Carol Gintner and Dale Elliott, Whitelaw, Tammy Gintner, Madison, Brenda (Ron) Welhoefer, Stoughton; five grandchildren: Nicole (Steve) Coombs, Alyssa (Julian) Lynch, Kayla Gintner, Hannah Gintner, Brayden Welhoefer; two great-grandchildren: August Lynch, Sylvie Coombs; five sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Janet (Al) Braun, Whitelaw, Mary (Neil) Hillstrom, New Berlin, Donna Gintner, Manitowoc, Shirley Gintner, Hartford, Donna Fischer, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Emma Krizek Sr.; her husband: Richard A. Gintner; one son-in-law: John O’Connor; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: John (Mildred) Barta, Donald Krizek, Frank (Luella) Krizek, Jr.; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Rose (Lloyd) Reichert, Evelyn (Edward) Reindl; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law include: Paul (Rose Ann) Gintner, Kenneth Gintner, Louis Gintner, Joseph (Rosie) Gintner, Jack Gintner, Earl (Dorothy) Gintner, Leo (Dolores) Gintner, Angeline (Isadore) Mahloch, Florence (Emil) Tienor, Gail (Norbert) Braun.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial at a later date in the Knollwood Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am.
