Donald Goetsch Obituary

Donald Louis Goetsch, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021, surrounded by his children at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

Don was born on December 18, 1927 in Sheboygan to Elmer and Esther (Sukowatey) Goetsch. On August 20, 1949 he married the former Jean Franke. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2005. Don served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Don drove truck for many years, and is best known for owning and operating Lima Auto Parts with his brothers.

Don enjoyed watching football, baseball, Nascar, gardening, canning, spending the month of February in Florida visiting family, taking road trips across the United States with his wife, Jean, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Darlyne and Johnny. They had many adventures, especially their trips to Las Vegas. Don enjoyed the fishing trips at the cabin in Wabeno, and driving around town to visit and lift the spirits of his friends that were residing at the local nursing homes. Don had a passion for stock car racing, both as a driver and a spectator, and was honored with being inducted into the Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Hall of Fame.

Don is survived by three daughters: Sue (Scott) Vollbrecht of Sheboygan Falls, Cindy (Mark) Byrum of Sheboygan, and Andrea (Tom) Oldenburg of Amberg; three sons: Steve (Lana) Goetsch, Jeff (Kim) Goetsch and Terry (Vicki) Goetsch, all of Sheboygan; 19 grandchildren: Kari, Brian, Angie, Jamey, Rudy, Roberta, Christian, Cory, Shawn, Nichole, Nathan, Jeffrey, Danielle, Paige, Hayley, Danielle, Jim, TJ, and Stevie; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Jack Goetsch; sister: Carole Melanz; and two sisters-in-law: Carol Goetsch and Elaine Goetsch. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Jean; his son: Thomas Goetsch; sister: Gloria (Anton) Prisland; two brothers: Duane Goetsch and Jerry Goetsch; sister-in-law: Betty Goetsch; and brother-in-law: Ronald Melanz.

A private graveside service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Sheboygan, with Military Honors to follow.

Memorials may be made to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Don’s memory.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all their care and compassion that they gave to Don.
