Darlene A. Wagner, age 90, formerly of Rural Manitowoc, residing at Riverwood Place for the past five years, passed away early Sunday morning, January 23, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center of Manitowoc County.
Darlene was born on December 15, 1931 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Anton and Myrtle (Sempier) Kaminski. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1949. On May 20, 1950 she married Dale Wagner in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on September 2, 1996. She was employed at the Manitowoc Health Care Center in the Dietary Department as the head cook until her retirement in 1988. Darlene started her own business in 1967 known as Countryview Traveler’s. She and her husband enjoyed many years of traveling while meeting new friends. Darlene served on The Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. She was also a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Christian Mothers Society for over 50 years, a member of the Manitowoc and Two Rivers Historical Society and a current member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community. Darlene was an amazing woman, who was well- known for her signature laugh and for her music box collection from her travels which numbered nearly a thousand. Her smile, love of family, kind heartedness and fun-loving personality touched so many lives.
Survivors include four daughters: Cheryl (Delton) Duchow, Valders, Denise Fischer, Manitowoc, Brenda (Bill) Salkowski, Chilton, Kim (Jim) Franzen, Whitelaw; two sons: Kennard (Marie) Wagner, Manitowoc, Dale (Cheryl) Wagner, Manitowoc; 18 grandchildren: Jenni (Will) Kiel, Jeff (Becca) Rathsack, Josh (Sam) Duchow, Jesse Duchow, Tanya (John) Reeson, Jodi (Scott) Kautzer, Kari (Henry) Langenhahn, Jason (Janelle) Fischer, Ryan (Erica) Mueller, Kristen Schmitt (special friend Jesse Fendryk), Shannon Wagner (special friend Matt Driesen), Charlie (Michelle) Wagner, Becky (Brian) Meyer, Jacob (Stacy) Wagner, Melissa Jacquart (special friend Joe Harris), Kyle (Vanessa) Wagner, Rachel (Jon) Kaderabek, Tyler (Brianna) Wagner; five step grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 11 step-great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and one special nephew: David (Rachel) Wagner, Bixby, OK; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son and daughter-in-law: Randall (Mona) Wagner; one grandson: Eric Wagner; two sons-in-law: Bill Fischer and Steve Mueller; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Arlette Kaminski, Elaine (Reiny) Groelle, Diane (Allen) Nonnemacher; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gustave and Sophie Wagner; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Floyd (Hilda) Wagner.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community in Newton. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial to take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Alverno.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, January 31, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Community, Newton, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
