Carol Parker Obituary

Carol Louise Parker, 97, of Manitowoc, passed away on March 29th, 2024.

Carol graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. She began working at Mirro Aluminum Company during World War II, making rocket boxes and canteens, and remained at Mirro until retiring in 1988. Carol also worked as a waitress at the Elks Club, the Supper Club, and Hotel Manitowoc.

Long active after her retirement, Carol was an avid member of many community and private organizations, including the Red Hats of Manitowoc and Two Rivers and the Eagles Club. She volunteered as a docent at the Washington House and as an usher at the Capitol Civic Center. Carol was a frequent donor to causes she believed in, including the Humane Society, Salvation Army, public radio and television, and the Nature Conservancy.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Edwin Karn Sr., brother Edwin Karn Jr., sister-in-law Lois Karn, and husbands Lee Skarvan and Gerald Parker. She is survived by her daughter Lee Ann Gauthier (Fernando Peña), grandson Jeff Gauthier (Miranda Weinberg), nephews Andrew Karn (Linda Yamamoto), Timothy Karn (Grace Cord), Michael Karn (Jodi Trotta), and Matthew Karn (Vicky Johnson), grandnephew Jackson Karn and grandniece Evelyn Karn, and many other family members and friends.

Carol will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, well known at family gatherings for her kindness, warmth, and universally-acclaimed German potato salad.

In lieu of flowers, gifts, or other expressions of sympathy, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Carol to the Salvation Army or Lakeshore Humane Society.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Aurora Medical Center of Two Rivers for the care and compassion they have shown to Carol and her family.
