Bette Colcord

Bette Colcord, age 93, of Manitowoc, died on Sunday, January 9, 2022 in Manitowoc.

Bette was born on March 16, 1928 to Herbert and Kathryn Remiker in Reedsville. After graduating from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1946, Bette headed west on a road trip with her cousin Margy Cavanaugh, settling in California. She worked as an Executive Secretary for the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, CA for 35 years.

Bette married Cyrus (Cy) Colcord on December 18, 1983. Upon retirement, they moved to Montrose, Colorado to be near the mountains and Cy’s family.

Bette is survived by her sister, Shirlee Gigure; nieces and their spouses: Ann and Randy Hoffmeister, Amy Gigure, Sarah and Sean Harvatine, Betsy and Steve Maliborski, William and Elena Shank, Robert and Marisol Shank, Bonnie Shank, niece-in-law Karin Gigure and many great nephews, great nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Kathryn Remiker; her husband, Cyrus Colcord; her brother-in-law William Gigure; her nephew, John Gigure; her brother and sister-in-law William and Joan Shank; and her beloved pups, Rags and Pooh Bear.

Bette enjoyed walking, chatting with dogs and their people, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. Her greatest pleasures included appreciating flowers, wildlife, and the overall beauty of the outdoors.

Bette’s wishes were cremation and no services. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Manitowoc assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com
